Chessable - OMG how could we have been working with chess for 2 years and only come across you now!?
When my son was learning Hyper Accelerated Dragon we searched long and far for even a book that has all the lines. We finally found a book by Raja Panjwani on Amazon and bought the online version from forwardchess.com. Forward Chess converts books to online content with a way to play through the chess moves while reading in the browser. With Forward Chess we thought we struck gold...little did we know.
Some time later another chess coach introduced us to Chessable. How could we have not found this OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS!? Every opening imaginable, complete with interactive move trainers and hours of video content by GM's - including three courses on Hyper Accelerated Dragon (including the course we bought from forwardchess - except the Chessable course is better!).
Want to study the Grunfeld? Check!
Want to study the English? Check!
How about the Slav or Petroff? Check!
Study something created by Gotham Chess or GM Finegold?
Want to do the Wood Pecker Method for solving puzzles...and watch the actual co-author struggle on the easy puzzles?
Chessable has it ALL!
Sounds like a great website right? Well, Chessable does have one major drawback: price.
Chessable courses are very expensive.
- GothamChess 1.e4 Repertoire: $39.99 or $199.98 with Video!
- GM Finegold 1.d4: $29.99 or $119.98 with Video!
- Woodpecker Method: $39.99 or $199.98 with Video!
For online content that is distributed to a wide audience, the price is ridiculous. That said, the video's are not short - Woodpecker Method alone has more than 24 hours of video content.
Often the courses go on sale by as much as 50%, and if you are a Chessable PRO member (another fee) then you get an extra 20% off, but it is still REALLY expensive for streamed content. I thought Chessbase was really expensive, but at least it is mostly a one time purchase (unless you get and DB updates). Here, you will likely want to do multiple courses, so you'd better have deep pockets.
But for those that are willing and able to invest in their chess future, I have found no better site than Chessable.com.
They also don't have a referral program (that I am aware of), so maybe that's why content creators are not pushing people to their site.
